Life is giving me gas ;)
I stopped my Vonage line today, what an ordeal! "But you've been with us for
almost 3 years, let us give you a free month.... NO, let us reduce your
rate...NO, let us give you free incoming calls...NO, NO, NO
It was an hour battle, finally I said, :look lady just kill the line
"or else"...are you folks connected to aol or something?" You have to
call them the day you want it ended, if you call before then, they give
you a direct line to call that has a 30 minute wait time on it, but if
you call the regular CSR line you get right through. What racket! I loved the service, but I have a cell phone and am never home, why pay for something I am not using? Last month we used the Vonage line for a total of 42 minutes. Why bother?
On the subject of gas.... Portland Oregon's gas prices are all over the map, day by day they change. I think they are putting prices into a cup and pulling out a new one each morning.... leaving the house and needing gas is a freaking daily adventure. Prices are determined by what part of town you are in and how much they think you will pay it seems...in SW I saw $3.71 for regular ( take that west hills people)...... where I am, SE Portland Metro, in semi-rural Clackamas... it's a crap shoot... ours was $3.27 yesterday but hit $3.41 today, last week it was $3.47. There is no pattern to it. I refuse to be held hostage by the bastages, I am building a pedal car from PVC pipe and recycled 20" bike parts from plans I found online here. I bought the plans for the sidekick version, it holds 2 people, plus a kid if you are clever and add a jump seat on the back where the cargo area is.
I will NOT go quietly into oil-company-greed-induced poverty....no sir-ee. I may sponsor a pedal car build-a-thon here in Portland and get as many people as I can to build them. We'll take over the roads when everyone else runs out of money to buy gas with!
Now I need a clever bumper sticker to make for it, besides the obvious one "I'm pedaling as fast as I can"....perhaps "Sticking It to Oil Companies...with every mile I pedal", or maybe "My other car is a Hummer".... or perhaps "I refuse to be gassimulated!"
I also need a cute license plate...maybe "Got gas?" or "FreeWheelin", or " Cruising Gasfree"...
Any better ideas out there?
