"Who Inspires You?"
That is the question asked on the quiltart list I belong to. Here are my answers-
In no particular order----
Quilters and Textile artists:
Jean Ray Laury
Sally Scott
Pamela Allen
Arlinka Blair
Dottie Moore
Painters:
Marlina Vera
Annie Predal
Jessica Rudy
Beth Seilonen
Julia Sisi
Elisheva Nesis
Julie Steiner
Miriam Robert
Emelisa Mudle
Individualists:
Ricky Boscarino who I discovered via his web site http://lunaparc.com/
Boyce Luther Gulley ( builder of the mystery Castle outside Phoenix, AZ)
Ken Kern- a pioneer in owner built architecture
and Architect Samuel Mockbee who lived his life believing that "everyone, rich or
poor, deserves a shelter for the soul", (he walked the walk by
organizing architecture students to design and build affordable housing
for hundreds of families using recycled materials, while battling
leukemia).
Last but not least:
My mom- (the queen of making do)....who told me every day that she was
alive she believed I could do anything I wanted to do, and that I
should start to believe it too.
and
My grandson Keegan- age 6, who thinks everything I design is magic. He
swears he is going to be an art quilter and textile artist when he
grows up, he does have an eye for color and texture, for now he is my
consultant
