My daughter, DelusionalAngel made the following gift for me. It is a chain maille piece that includes (about as close as she could get to) suns in it. This kind of artistry is difficult for many people, it's very tedious to do. The importance of the fact that she made this for me is amplified by the fact she has MS, and has not had one symptom (or pain) free day since 2001. I will cherish it always, and plan to have it mounted in a frame. It is approx 8" x 8". The second pic is a closeup of one of the sections so you can see the work that went into this piece. Beautiful eh? Want something made? She does do commissions, for the standard rates (not rates based on her time, because she tends to be slower about it since she only works on it on her better days, so allow for this if you need something by a certain date). If you want a small piece she does some cool bracelets for $25-$50, look her up on vox.
This Link will take you to an 8 minute video clip that should add some magic to your new year
The intro is in French, but the performance transcends language....and IS amazing!
Have a VERY magical 2007 everyone!
"President of Iraq Saddam Hussein was the capital punishment imposed for his crimes against the humanity following his trial for the killings of 148 Shias in the town of Dujail in 1982. He was also standing trial for the genocide of approximately 180,000 Kurds during the late 1980s, but the execution ended the trial without a sentence. Saddam was executed at approximately 06:00 local time (03:00 GMT) on December 30, 2006 by hanging"
So old Saddam was not a nice guy, & he had to be "punished" for his crimes... what in the heck is the sudden bum's rush all about eh? What did he know? Who did he know it about? Was it about to come out?
Sorry, I don't buy the "we already had a death sentence conviction, so there was no need to go on". Washington prides it's self on making everyone accountable but themselves...for every freaking thing. So WHY suddenly shuffle naughty Saddam off to be executed in the middle of a trial already underway. Somethings up..... and it smells an awful lot like 2 week old fish... if you know what I mean.
Saying YES to mess article here
From that article:
"Contrarian voices can be heard in the wilderness. An anti-anticlutter
movement is afoot, one that says yes to mess and urges you to embrace
your disorder. Studies are piling up that show that messy desks are the
vivid signatures of people with creative, limber minds (who reap higher
salaries than those with neat “office landscapes”) and that messy
closet owners are probably better parents and nicer and cooler than
their tidier counterparts. It’s a movement that confirms what you have
known, deep down, all along: really neat people are not avatars of the
good life; they are humorless and inflexible prigs, and have way too
much time on their hands."
AMEN! My kind of article, I have posted in on the frig... finally, justification for my improv stacking!
How do you take your tea or coffee?

Extremely hot and completely unblemished..(ie no creamer, no sugar, no crap)
Those bastages have been rolling my mail into "mailballs" for months now... and so far my complaints have been civilized, but I spent 2 years trying to find an OOP book online. I finally found it and ordered it. The mail person crammed it into my box along with 40 other pieces of mail, requiring me to use an actual crowbar to extract my mail from the box. The book is worthless to anyone now.
I am telling you...THIS IS WAR! I have already been to my local post office screaming, and advising the people in the lines there to take their business to fedex if they want their stuff delivered at lower rates and in one piece. Gawd help the USPS if they try to get a rate hike in January like they usually do.... I'll organize a protest march of pissed-off customers.
Next step in this war is devious ...I'm giving the delivery person a sealed box of cookie crumbs and telling her I baked cookies and packed them with the same care she gives my mail every day...... heh
Okay so I played with a program called Art rage2 last night...how fun...but let me tell ya, drawing with a mouse instead of a tablet is a piece of work. Keeping in mind that I did these with a mouse, and that is challenging at best, my rough results are posted below..... I could kick butt with this program if I had a tablet..........
I am playing with Photo Filter, a free and fairly easy to use photo editing program found here:
http://www.photofiltre.com/
They also have a studio version that is closer to Photoshop or Illustrator found here:
http://www.photofiltre-studio.com/frames-en.htm
The studio version is free to try for 30 days and then you need to register it to keep using it.
Cost:$25 EUR or about $33 USD
So far my business card looks like this:
