Good gawd, who ordered this crap?!? I was as tired of the cold extended winter as anyone this year, but this is not what I wished for.... and to ride it out in a 1979 single wide trailer with broken A/C... OMG.... just picture a tin can laying in the desert, say...death valley...for days.... it is now 303 am and outside it is 83, inside it is 90... I sure wish it held heat like this during the winter I can tell ya.
I cannot sleep, it's too hot.... if I had enough ice cubes to fill the tub I would nekkid and cuddling with ice cubes right now. I do not do heat well.
I did sew a bit today, the outcome of my efforts the last week will be posted on Monday.

Mr. Imagination ( aka Gregory Warmack aka Mr. "I" to his friends) is brought you by the search term "multimedia art"- Chicago born outsider artist. Outsider artists tend to be sorta cast out by their communities but not so in the case of Mr. I, his current PA community is rallying behind him after his home burned in January of this year, and much of his art was lost in the fire along with his dog and several cats. Info on what is being done to help him can be found here.

For more info on Mr. I and other talented outsider artists check out DetourArt a roadmap of self-educated art discoveries found along the back roads of the world, (no it doesn't just cover artists in the USA). ON the site sites in danger of disappearing are listed in case anyone wants to donate to help save them. It's a really fun site to wander around on. They also have a blog, in case you want to follow their travels. I was intrigued by the number of outsider artists who had near death experiences before they found art and started creating.
While I am posting, I'd like input on the best portable GPS system out there, yes it needs to be portable, we all know how good I am at killing vehicles.... any opinions? My daughter Karina is offering to get me one, I guess she is tired of getting lost with me. ;) IOW, the secret here is to act inept and she steps up to bat and helps out or throws money at the problem to fix it. Nice to know, I may start breaking dishes so she offers to load them into the dishwasher once in awhile.
]]>I woke ready to charge into the day, but first I had to charge up on some coffee, so I did email and surfed as I always do, entering a random word or phrase that was stuck in my head when I woke and searching for images. It's how things find me, and today was no different.
The random phrase "abstact sun" lead me to the art of a man called Rassouli. I had never heard of him before, but I am now a fan of his work. Judge for yourself:

His work has a flow that draws you into it and moves your soul. I could easily see all of his art transformed into art quilts. My discovery of Rassouli lead me to my happy discovery of the music of Kitaro.....
I would call today a very productive surfing day....
I also decided that dieting is much easier of you eat out of a bento box, in fact bento boxes are my new dieting aid, They hold rational amounts of food, and you simply CANNOT over eat when using one. I have lost 7 pounds in 10 days without tracking anything or even really trying. I pack up 3 of the two layered ones and one single layered one in the evening for the next day. I do not surf the refrigerator, my meals and a snack box are ready to go when I wake up, it makes life easy.
My breakfast box has a cut up eggbeaters omelet, 2 sausage links ( reheated in about a minute), and either yogurt or oatmeal with fruit.
My lunch box has some kind of a salad, and 3 small salad shrimp or chicken rolls or diced meat & cheese plus diced fruit of some kind.
My dinner box has baked pork, beef, fish, chicken or a vegetarian main dish, a steamed veggie, and rice or a salad.
The single layer box is my snack box.... chunks of veggies, or fruit, or cheese balls ala Bisquick , a dip, maybe a few crackers.
I drink 2 glasses of unsweetened grapefruit juice a day, my usual pot of coffee ;), and lots of water. Non-fat milk with dinner or my snack and 1 Lite Arnold Palmer in the evening while i watch TV or sew. I get plenty to eat, the box keeps me on track, my only rule is, if it's not in the box I don't eat it. You simply cannot fit a half a pizza in these boxes, or a side of beef, or a poor boy, or a big mac..... and if you make a deal with yourself you are only eating from the boxes, things like chips take too much room to qualify for inclusion. I am not craving anything nor do I feel like I am sacrificing.
Saturdays are my cheat day...and I add a dessert or blueberry muffin to the menu. I am also going to eat dinner out on saturdays when I have the money.
So if you do miniature paintings, small water color pieces, fiber art cards, ATCs, make funky pocket shrines, small whimsical assemblages or art dolls, or anything that can used in his therapy, things he can keep in a small rehab room, I want your help... I am asking you to add to the effort....and I am asking you to ask your friends to help out too. Please share this call for art with everyone you know, no matter where they live. For a little bit of effort, and very little postage we can all help Dave... and encourage him at the same time.
Most of us never know if the world notices we are here or that we struggle. I want Dave to know lots of people are pulling for him to recover by sending small pieces of artistic stimulation to help encourage his recovery efforts. Those who send art, please be sure your return address is on it, Dave may not be able to thank you himself for awhile, but if he can't someone will send you a thank you and acknowledgment so you know your art contribution got to him okay.
My personal thanks in advance to all of you who decide you are willing to take time out for a total stranger, who care enough to send him art stimulation and well wishes for a speedy recovery.

The perils of working nights while most of the world does not..... I passed out at 430ish set my alarm to wake me at 630.... that didn't happen. Well, the alarm went off, but it did not raise the dead. So here I am at 3am, wide awake, having missed most of my day off. CRAP.
Anyway, here I sit, catching up on a day's worth of email..... I woke to something totally pleasant to look at in an email feed from "Unusual Life".... which BTW, is a great site/feed if you are into unusual stuff. In the Unusual Life feed I found THIS article on the Purple palace Art House. I love people who know how to live life out loud! What a great environment that would be to live in.... all that COLOR!

This was found on my quiltart list digest, well, sorta..it was a link I found while following another one.... the one I will be playing with instead is about how to make your own low cost rubbing plate for printing. (I never seem to wind up where I am suppose to be going). I am changing one thing though, instead of using cardboard for the base, I am going to buy some of that 1/4" thick foam core board, much sturdier! I'll be hitting the bargain bins at Michaels Craft Store in route to work tonight seeking hideous colors of dimensional paint for cheap....
How fun! ( and portable) Added bonus, to me it screams, "design something aboriginal looking"!
How many ways could you use this stamp plate idea?
I found this cool instructional DVD set in my wanderings today, 5 DVDs, 43 hours of video instruction for a mere $45, I looked at the sample videos.... VERY cool! I am ordering a set for me and a set for my almost son-in-law. I am self taught in my drawing and I know I have a lot to learn, my son-in-law is more advanced than me in figure drawing but my daughter assures me he will love these. It's called The Structure Of Man, and at $45 this is almost a gift of information. Let's face it, drawing books tend to be lacking when it comes to this stuff. I can hardly wait to get my set. I don't know the guy who produced these, but if the whole set is like the samples.... he deserves help getting the word out on what he has produced so he can make some money for his efforts. If you want to improve your own figure drawing skills, go check them out using the link in this post, I think you will agree with me, the set is a bargain.
