My grandson Keegan, age 6, was helping me clean yesterday, and suddenly he sat down and said he wasn't doing any more sweeping. I told him he promised to help and he needed to keep his word... to which he replied with a very serious look on his little face... :"Look , don't think you can boss me around just because you have boobies.... I might be just a little kid but I KNOW how you women get!"
Ummmmm... I was afraid to ask where "that" came from, but I suspected his father was involved in it up to his eyeballs. Some days are a lot more amusing than others around here.....
(We had a chat without a huge issue being made of what he said and more of an issue being made over the importance of keeping promises), and then mom took over, I believe dad got a call and a good talking to as well. He did finish the sweeping too. It is probably a good thing his dad has not been in the picture a lot, or my job would have been much more difficult... mostly raising him. It is amazing he is turning out so well, for the most part he is a great kid.)
Keegan ( age 5 in case you forgot the players on my end of this) just informed me he has no time to eat dinner, he is "a serious gamer now", and I am to stop bothering him. ( All hail the game cube)
Well, dumb me..... clearly he got too much fresh air yesterday, because he appears to have forgotten who he's messing with....
Keegan inquired about some tough guy wearing an earring on TV, he wanted to know if that was cool. I told him in some circles it is. His mouth dropped open when I told him the guy had a hole punched through his ear to wear the giant hoop he had on. Keegan asked me again...
"so you are telling me he had a hole poked through his ear?!?
Yep.
"That's just crazy".
I could see the wheels turning in his head as I left to take my shower....
Poor little guy, all that problem solving wore him out. His brain and how it works, scares me some days.... truly. He is either going to grow up to be a problem solving genius, or a master criminal. Mark my words on this.
I entered a recent pic of my grandson in the "We Are All Photographers" exhibition hosted by Musée de l'Elysée, Lausanne a museum for photography in Switzerland. I got my confirmation email today saying the photo was currently showing there. Keegan is now a world traveler of sorts.... he will be most pleased when he gets home from Kindergarten.
It is my favorite pic of him to date, and probably the best pic I have ever taken with my cell phone. I have posted it here before, in case you do not recognize it, it is this one.
Keegan fell victim to this horrible virus that took me out of the game on monday and the neighbor's cat Stubby is insisting on caring for him. We cannot get him out of our house, he will not even go home with his owner. Stubby follows Keegan whenever he is outside playing, and now, thanks to our cat door, he has appointed himself #1 caregiver for Keegan in his time of need, working only for food and water.
He is truly devoted, when Keegan gets up to run to the bathroom, Stubby follows him, sits outside the bathroom door crying until he comes out, and then he is back on him like glue as soon as Keegan lays down.
I swear he hugs him while he sleeps...
He's an odd cat.
